If they don't bring tax cuts for middle-income familes, while making schools 'better' and winning the 'war on terrorism' and rejuvinating the economy while not running a deficit, then great. News is now trickling out of continued Republican "Vote Suppression Tactics" (this is actually what the GOP calls it!) Republicans were giving an incorrect election date to African-Americans in Maryland and police were deployed in poor communities warning people NOT to vote if they have any outstanding parking tickets. In Texas, Republican poll monitors were seen harrassing and intimidating Latino voters while police stood by doing nothing. In New Hampshire, Minnesota, and Florida, tenants in senior housing were told they must vote Republican in order to avoid losing their homes.

RE: VOTING MACHINES: Attempts were made to examine the code used in the machines in Florida. The attempt was blocked in the courts by the GOP citing "proprietary/trade secrecy" protections under law. Upshot is that the DNC could not ascertain how the machines tabulated votes and how accurately. As mentioned above: it is easy to write code to alter tabulations in any number of ways. A scary thought: why did VNS suddenly fail to release exit poll data? Could it have been in wide variance with machine tabulated results?

As all of you, I feel betrayed. I think the DNC is good at getting out the union votes, but not so good at getting out the minority votes. Here in California we won the Governor's race and all the state wide offices and maintained control of both houses of the state legislature. We're a united state party and have more grassroots organization than another other Democratic party at the state level. Grassroots organization was the problem in this election in such states as Missouri and Georgia. If we can get that organized in the national level then we'll take out this one party state by 2024.

Whether there is actually an invasion seems irrelevant. Beating the war drums seems adequate to rallie the electorate. I trust everyone will be flying flags on both sides of their SUV's.

The charge is now to progressives to become the creative opposition. They have no excuse. The Republicans "don't play well with others" and will be exposed by their over-reaching and inability to deliver. This is a disaster but also an opportunity.
